BFS7 is a highly diverse mix composed of 25 UK native wildflowers. The species in this mix are suited to low fertility base rich chalk and limestone soils that are dry and free draining. Species such as Wild Marjoram, Field Scabious and Wild Clary are characteristic of this habitat. It is represented by the NVC lowland calcareous grassland communities CG1 to CG7. This mix represents the species present in the habitat of principal importance ‘Lowland Calcareous Grassland’. The short turf and warm ground are ideal conditions for butterfly species such as Adonis and Chalkhill Blue. Whilst the birds associated with this habitat are stonechat, meadow pipit and skylarks.
