BFS4 is a specially designed mix for clay soils, composed of 19 UK native wildflower species that are adapted to growing on soils with high clay content. Clay soils are generally susceptible to water logging, becoming sticky and heavy when wet, and prone to cracking in summer. Species such as Common Knapweed and Bird’s-foot Trefoil have a deep taproot that improves soil structure and aeration. The wildflowers in this mix provide ample resources in the form of seeds, leaves and nectar for songbirds, caterpillars, bees and more.
