BFS3 is a species rich seed mix containing 20 UK native wildflowers that are well adapted to lowland, seasonally flooded sites with low to moderate soil fertility. Floodplain meadows have been heavily associated with the lowlands of the UK yet are now few in number. BFS3 boasts a diverse range of species that are characteristic of a floodplain meadow such as Great Burnet, Ragged Robin and Betony. It is represented by the mesotrophic wet grassland NVC communities MG4, MG8 and MG9 and is a habitat of principal importance known as ‘Lowland Meadows’. This habitat hosts a range of wildlife from waders and dragonflies to field voles and hoverflies.
