BFS1 has been specifically designed for a traditional meadow conservation area. This high diversity mix of 18 UK native wildflowers contains traditional species such as Buttercup, Common Knapweed and Great Burnet, that have long been used for hay in meadows. The species in this mix are well suited to low fertility, circumneutral and free draining moist soils that dry out in the summer. It is represented by the NVC community MG5 and is a habitat of principal importance ‘Lowland Meadows’. This mix can support a wide range of wildlife from skylarks and pipits to grasshoppers and butterflies.
